A native Atlantan, Robert grew up on the campus of the college where his father worked and, from an early age, saw the undergraduate admissions process from the inside.
Robert went on to receive his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Creative Writing from Stanford University. During summers, he worked primarily in journalism at a variety of publications and media outlets from BuzzFeed.com to the Washington Desk at National Public Radio. He also began publishing his poetry and prose in a breadth of respected literary magazines and journals, sometimes alongside poet laureates and other celebrated writers.
Following graduation, Robert moved to New York City and held positions at Bain & Company as an Associate Consultant and then the online art market platform Artsy.net. Last year, upon completing a draft of the manuscript for his first novel, he relocated to Berlin to edit, re-edit, and pursue publication — while also eating lots of Turkish food. In the fall, he will return to New York to begin his Masters in Fine Arts for Fiction Writing.
To CFE, Robert brings four years of experience tutoring Bay Area high school students at Zenith Tutoring in Mountain View, California, as well as extensive creative and academic writing experience. A keen and analytical reader, he is an expert at spotting the hole that unravels the essay or the thread that pulls it together. He is committed to bringing more personality to the college application process, as he believes having a distinct voice is essential to stand out. After years in media strategy, he is pivoting in a more creative direction centering his writing. He hopes to publish novels, to teach, and to adapt his prose for TV and film. His dream career would be that of Zadie Smith or Jeff Eugenides. His areas of expertise include journalism, politics, writing, media, poetry, art, humanities and marketing.
